Here are answers to the frequently asked questions about our community email list. If you have questions that aren’t answered below, please send them to admin@heyuu.ca.
What is it?
It is a private email list where any member can send a message to the group, and all members can receive all messages sent to the group by email. This a place for our community to share announcements, have thoughtful discussions, and ask questions about our annual event.
Currently the group is open to all past Men’s Gathering attendees.
How does it work?
Any member can send an email to heyuu@googlegroups.com which will be sent out to all other group members.
When you send a message, your original message is not sent back to you, but any replies to your message will be sent to your email inbox.
When you reply to someone’s message, your reply is sent to everyone in the group.
Our list runs on Google Groups.
How do I sign up?
You will need a Google Account to join. This is free and can use an email account you already have. You aren’t required to use an @gmail email account. (Click here for instructions on setting up a new Google Account)
- Go to https://groups.google.com/. Sign in to your Google Account, if prompted.
- Go to https://groups.google.com/g/heyuu
- Click the Ask to join group button
- (Optional) Uncheck the box Link to my Google account profile to type in a different Display name above
- (Optional) Adjust your subscription settings (see next question below for details)
- If you haven’t attended an event recently, add a note about to let us know how you are connected to the community.
- Click the Ask to join button
You’ll receive an email once your membership is approved.
Can I change how often I receive emails?
Yes! Members can adjust their “subscription” settings on this page: https://groups.google.com/g/heyuu/membership
Options:
- Each email—Messages are sent individually as they’re posted to the group.
- Digest—Up to 25 complete messages are combined into single emails and sent daily.
- Abridged—Summaries of up to 150 messages are combined into single emails and sent daily.
- No email—Messages from the group are not sent. (View the archive to see past messages.)
How do I view past messages?
To view the archive of past messages, go to https://groups.google.com/g/heyuu
